Eco-tip of the week!

I was once told on a camp to put a brick in the toilet tank. The water in the tank is more than the amount needed. So save water and put a brick in your toilet! :o

Also lift the handle when everything has been flushed down, don't use the whole tank just for the sake of using it (especially for those number 1s).

Do-don't laugh...

First impression: "what a lol!" However, when one thinks about it it is actually extremely sad really. Easy prey, the Dodo were exterminated by humans. Apparently, they were quite docile animals and couldn't fly, thus they were literally sitting ducks.
It is sad to think that we, humans, have not learnt from our mistakes and are still exterminating animals, if not directly through hunting, indirectly by destroying their natural habitats. According to the World Wildlife Fund For Nature (WWF), "even if we saved all the remaining habitat in the world, 20% of species would still go extinct."
Check out WWF's Global Species Programme, as well as the Alliance for Zero Extinction (AZE) website, for more information on endangered species.

My Ecological Footprint

I just took the Earth Day Network ecological footprint quiz and mine is: 2.3 planets!! This means that if everyone had to live I do we would need 2.3 planets in order to survive! Scary innit?
The quiz breaks your carbon footprint down into different categories, as well as it gives you an estimate of how much productive land you use.
The Earth Day Network also gives you tips on how to reduce your ecological footprint...

So go check it out!
